Making a Difference: KARIBU Solar Power

I received an email from former students Azfal Habib and Adam Camenzuli telling me about their recent venture KARIBU Solar Power, an innovative social enterprise that makes high quality solar power affordable in Africa. They have recently been selected as a United Nations SEED Award Winner and are in Forbes Africa this month. In the email Adam stated that they met the company that was used for a case analysis from my class and how cool it was to be able to talk with them.

You often forget how a small exercise can encourage people to join the industry they are in today and spark a passion for it. It is fulfilling to see young entrepreneurs take an initiative and strive to become great social entrepreneurs.

As a teacher you attempt to make a difference in young students and it is rewarding when you receive positive updates. You hope that each student can learn something valuable, whether that pertains to business or not.

Congratulations Azfal and Adam!
